Rooted in Renaissance Humanism. Grounded in science. Powered by every American who believes government's job is to protect people — not take advantage of them.
We hold that every human being possesses inherent dignity, the right to self-determination, and the capacity for reason. Rooted in the civic humanism of the 15th century Renaissance — the belief that scholarly discipline, textual and scientific inquiry, and civic participation elevate all of humanity — the American Humanist Party advances a governance framework built on facts, compassion, equity, and the enduring pursuit of a self-defined, meaningful, and flourishing life for every person on American soil.
Humanity First. Science Forward. Freedom Always.Every individual possesses inherent worth. Governance must expand — not diminish — personal freedom and self-determination. You cannot make free choices when you are sick, homeless, or hungry. Government's job is to remove those barriers.
Every law and every dollar we spend should be based on real, independently verified evidence — not guesses, not politics, not fear. Basing policy on data is the only effective defense against collective poor decision-making at a national scale.
You have a right to know what your government does with your money. You also have a duty to vote and participate. People who feel genuinely part of a group they are proud of behave more cooperatively and invest more in shared institutions.
Healthcare, school, housing, food — these are not rewards for being rich. They are rights for being human. Research conclusively demonstrates that poverty and instability in childhood create lasting changes in brain development that affect a person's entire life.
Your freedom ends where someone else's safety begins. Government protects that line for everyone equally. The social contract asks only that individual freedom does not become a mechanism for exploiting or harming others.
The air, water, and land are not ours to destroy. They belong to everyone alive today and every generation not yet born. Protecting the planet is not an environmental issue — it is a human survival issue.
